My supa fly friend Mazik over at Self/Aviary directed the new Mayer Hawthorne video for the single “Green-eyed Love” off of his new Stones Throw release A Strange Arrangement. I like to think of this video and Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” as a sort of call and response. When Cee-lo breaks down and begs “does that make me crazy?” Mayer Hawthorne is there to comfort him with this hot number, in which he seems to come to terms with insanity and relish in it, giving the heads up to Cee-lo that he’s not in this alone. We’re all crazy, it’s cool! We’ve all got our green-eyed loves! Really though, I don’t know what to do with this whole soul-pop genre.
