Before landing on this page, you and I were only separated by a mere three degrees. Now we can be one on the web. That's not the definition of technological singularity but it should be.
With this tumblog, I promise kittens and balls of yarn for the kittens to play with. There will be some making out and a lot of hand-holding. Paper Magazine’s Beautiful People Issue Release Party.
Tonight I signed on as Paper TV’s on-air personality and got to interview “Beautiful People” fanning from fashion icons such as Richie Rich (of my all-time favorite line Heatherette!) to NY nightlife staples such as Andre J to American diplomat Benjamin Chang (who quickly became my best buddy of the evening.) I’ll post the video here when it goes up online later this week, but as a teaser, I will tell you America’s beloved songbird, Joanna Newsom, lives on a totally different planet. I know that people say this about me often, but I think her planet is light years further from Earth than Malzwerld. I felt almost uncomfortable talking with her because I was increasingly aware of how bizarre her physical/verbal responses were to my questions, which made it hard to concentrate on what she was saying let alone continue a conversation with her on camera. Needless to say, she was probably the most beautiful “beautiful person” in the room (alas, I’m biased because I really only like people as tiny as I am.)
I tried to find an image of her to attach but all of them portray her as a totally normal human. This one is the least direct and therefore the one I feel most comfortable posting:
Her actual performance (which was a total surprise to me, no one ever tells me anything) was equally bizarre! Sounded nothing like her recorded stuff, but she was complaining about people talking distracting her performance (?@?!) so maybe that had something to do with it.
