Oh hi hello there. I'm Mallory Blair. I am a 23-year-old New Yorker, spending most of my time making Small Girls PR run.

Before landing on this page, you and I were only separated by a mere three degrees. Now we can be one on the web. That's not the definition of technological singularity but it should be.

With this tumblog, I promise kittens and balls of yarn for the kittens to play with. There will be some making out and a lot of hand-holding. I hope that when you are lonely and lost on the outmost corners of the interweb, you can come here and find yrself and feel the good vibrations. You are special and no one can touch that!

Meet The Journal of Popular Noise, a multi-media music magazine dedicated to innovations in music in conjunction with innovations in graphic design.
With each issue, Byron Kalet (editor-in-chief), gives three groups of musicians a set of instructions from which to write a song.  The end result is a body of songs that are diametrically different perspectives on the same thing.  The written articles in the journal, which can be found when the 7-inch sleeve is unfolded into a 17x22” poster, serve to explore these musicians and their possibilities for innovation in sound as well as to expose their stories.  Each issue comes with 3 vinyl records where the reader can hear the music projects. The poster folds into an origami-style letterpress that creates a case for the records.
My best friend Jordan has been pouring her heart and soul into this project citing Byron Kalef as not only her “graphic design guru” but also her personal mentor.  It makes me happy to see her so happy working on something she can really be proud of.  Though I missed the release party, I look forward to seeing what else Byron, Jordan, and the rest of their happy family have in store for the future.

EDIT:  Since so many of you have asked, you can buy them on the Journal of Popular Noise website (http://www.popularnoise.net) or you can buy them at the stores Printed Matter and Opening Ceremony. They will be in other stores soon, but if you don’t live in New York City, the website is your best bet.
